About Cathy

Cathy Carroll is a leadership coach dedicated to helping family business leaders thrive. She draws on her experience leading her father’s business, as well as two decades of corporate leadership at United Airlines, Sabre Inc., and Hewitt Associates in her coaching work. A third-generation descendant of her grandfather’s business, she also taps into her experiences navigating complex family dynamics over generations.

With her strength in polarity thinking, she supports her clients to lead in an ever-more complex world, integrating their heads and their hearts, to serve the needs of both the business and the family simultaneously. Her book, Hug of War: How to Lead a Family Business With both Love and Logic helps leaders discover their own path to doing the same.

She combines her rich experience as a teacher, sports coach, non-profit leader and therapist with extensive training and study of Bowen Family Systems Theory to help leaders see the relationship system more clearly and take strategic steps toward more mature functioning within it.

As an experienced teacher and mentor, Amie has a keen ability to help others see the relationship systems influencing individual functioning over time. Fueled by an insatiable curiosity, Amie’s learning sessions help folks understand and appreciate the complexity of relationship systems, the impact of anxiety and the possibility of more mature functioning through the lens of Bowen Family Systems Theory.
